Apathy

It's not easy being a talented, white MC. Apathy has been rapping for over a decade yet Wanna Snuggle? is only the Connecticut MC's second album. Produced mostly by Apathy, Wanna Snuggle? balances backpacker writing exercises like "Candy" with more conventional subject matter. Album highlight "Money Orientated" combines a choice AZ vocal sample with neck snapping drums as Ap and fellow Demigodz member Emilio Lopez talk C.R.E.A.M. "True Love" details the search for "the perfect mate who knows the Purple Tape," assisted by a hilarious Phonte verse. "Guys & Girl" is an amusing relationship primer and "I'm A Demigod" is a master's class in brag-rap. The album's first half is excellent but Wanna Snuggle?'s back end is loaded with second-string guests and overwrought concept tracks. Apathy's skill as a producer and MC is undeniable, and with a little quality control the next one could be a classic.
