Watch Anyway Gang Play in Their Trailer After Rained-Out Hillside Set

"It was actually pretty special," says Menno Versteeg

Though Anyway Gang — the CanRock supergroup of Sloan's Chris Murphy, Hollerado's Menno Versteeg, Tokyo Police Club's Dave Monks, and Sam Roberts — had their Sunday (July 24) night Hillside performance washed away by a massive storm and resulting power outage, the quartet still managed to make their presence known at the Guelph Lake festival throughout the weekend — even if it was for a much smaller audience in the end.

After participating in a handful of collaborative sessions, walking around the festival grounds and being generally entertaining on social media all weekend, the band found themselves without their festival-closing set as the severe thunderstorm ripped through Southern Ontario.

Retreating to their trailer amid a downpour of rain and a lightning show in the sky, the Gang and their crew huddled together with a baby, a few hot dogs and a regular dog to stay dry. That's when the band broke out into song, performing an acoustic set from inside the shelter.

"We still had a riot on Sunday, despite being rained out," Versteeg tells Exclaim! "It was actually pretty special."

You can watch the footage (shot by Calm Elliott-Armstrong) of the band playing through "Big Night," "Call on Me" and "Everybody Cries" below.
