The Amazon Original track features Hand Habits' Meg Duffy and was engineered by King Tuff

Angel Olsen has shared a cover of Lucinda Williams' 1998 Car Wheels on a Gravel Road track "Greenville." Recorded for the Amazon Original series, the rendition features vocals from Hand Habits' Meg Duffy — taking over the spot filled by Emmylou Harris on the original — and was engineered by Kyle Thomas (otherwise known as King Tuff).

"Before I wrote Big Time I found a new obsession and love for Lucinda's body of work," Olsen said in a statement about the cover. "There is no one like her out there. It's clear to me that her songs come from a very real place, and that's the only kind of writing I like." She continued:

I recorded my version of "Greenville" in Los Angeles earlier this month with Kyle Thomas of King Tuff. We've known each other for a while, but never recorded music together. Kyle made this so fun to record and we had a great time goofing around. Meg Duffy also sang with me on this track. Meg showed me this song for the first time years ago and was the first one to introduce me to Lucinda's music. It was very meaningful to have them on the track with me.

The worlds of Olsen and Williams colliding makes a lot of cosmic sense, and Olsen's cover is a stripped-back, swaying thing that stays true to the original's heartbroken warmth.

Olsen just released her beautiful new record Big Time, and Exclaim! sat down with her earlier this month to discuss the record's big, sweeping themes of change and loss.

This past Monday, Olsen hit the road with Sharon Van Etten and Julien Baker for The Wild Hearts Tour, which will roll through Toronto on August 12.
