Listen to Sharon Van Etten and Michael Imperioli Cover "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire"

The Disney+ show 'A Small Light,' also features covers by Angel Olsen, Danielle Haim, Kamasi Washington and more

Noted karaoke enthusiast and party organizer Este Haim executive produced the soundtrack for a new Disney+ show called A Small Light, a National Geographic dramatic series about the life of Anne Frank.

She's invited a bunch of friends (and some family) to contribute to the soundtrack with World War II era covers, and each week we get two new covers with each new episode. Last week, it was Danielle Haim covering Doris Day's "Till We Meet Again" and Kamasi Washington covering Charlie Parker's "Cheryl."

Today, we get renditions from Angel Olsen and Sharon van Etten, the latter of whom is joined by Michael Imperioli (obviously most famous for The Sopranos, but also featured on the latest season of The White Lotus, for which Este Haim also provided music supervision).

Olsen's cover is of Larry Clinton's "My Reverie," which was also a hit for the likes of Bing Crosby, Mildred Bailey and Glenn Miller. Olsen's version is spartan and shimmery, and it feels somewhat in line with the haunted country of last year's Big Time, shot through with the keening shadows of her early work. It features some shivery slide guitar from the Last Shadow Puppets' Zach Dawes.

Van Etten tackles "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire," turning it into a swaying country bop that features a reverb-drenched spoken word verse by Imperioli. Imperioli is big on music — he's the leader of his band Zopa, wrote a novel about Lou Reed and appeared in Japanese Breakfast's video for her Jubilee song "Savage Good Boy."
