Adele Lets Go of the Past in "Easy on Me" Video

It's the first single from '30'

Adele — ever heard of her? After lots of hints, subtle and not so subtle, the pop titan announced that her album 30 will indeed be out next month. Now, a video for lead single "Easy on Me" has arrived.

The song is a grand piano anthem, sounding distinctly similar to Adele's past hit "When We Were Young," although this latest song never crescendos into a full-blown power ballad, instead remaining a stripped-down lament.

The accompanying video shows Adele selling and moving away from the same home featured in the "Hello" video. She drives through the backcountry, dropping music sheets out the window, and the clip eventually bursts into full colour as Adele celebrates her self-rediscovery.

The clip was directed by returning collaborator, Quebecois filmmaker Xavier Dolan, who said in a statement, "I was honestly hoping for this to happen. For me, there's nothing stronger than artists reconnecting after years apart. I've changed. Adele's changed. And this is an opportunity to celebrate how we've both evolved, and how we've also both remained faithful to our dearest themes. It's all the same, but different."

Adele's long-awaited 30 is out on November 19.
