Sony Pictures Imageworks has announced the opening of an office in Montreal. The Vancouver-based VFX and animation company is responsible for The Polar Express, Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, Hotel Transylvania and more.
The company's EVP Michelle Grady said that opening a new office in Montreal was a no-brainer: "The growing VFX and animation industry coupled with the established talent base makes Montreal the perfect location for expansion and will allow Imageworks to continue to execute the diverse creative visions of our clients," she said [via Deadline].
The new location will be in Old Montreal, where current VP of New Business, Laura Fitzpatrick, will be in charge. Imageworks is hiring for several roles, including animators, production coordinators, compositors and lighters.
Throughout the expansion, Imageworks has been producing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Marvels are still to come from the studio this year.
