After what feels like an eternity, the long-in-the-works Child's Play TV series, Chucky, is finally set for release, and today we've been hit with the anticipated first trailer.

The clip is a brief one, but it does give us a good idea what to expect. As you'll witness, we find Chucky getting picked up by a kid at some yard sale, where strangely enough a butcher's knife goes along with him. Following some quick cuts, we're then met with Chucky's demoniacal laughter.

Watch the first trailer for Chucky below.

Talking to EW, Child's Play creator Don Mancini explained the main character of Chucky is "a 14-year-old gay boy who's bullied and sort of lost after the recent death of his mother."

Mancini added that the lead is "a young artist [making] sculptures with doll parts. He finds Chucky at a yard sale and buys him, but it turns out that he gets much more than he bargained for."

As previously reported, Chucky will star Final Destination star Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN15) and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless).

Chucky will premiere on October 12 on Syfy and USA Network.
