Well, we have one less Tiger King spinoff to worry about. Amazon Prime Video has confirmed its scripted series with Nicolas Cage starring as Joe Exotic is dead.

The news comes via Deadline, who confirmed the Amazon project is no longer moving forward after first being announced nearly a year ago.

By the sounds of things, the show didn't get very far, with little progress being made on the CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studio production beyond Cage being announced as Joe Exotic and some script work. Also, according to Deadline, the dead-in-the-water show won't be shopped around at any other network.

As previously reported, the Cage-starring series was being written by American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana and was to centre on big cat titan Joe Exotic. The project was to be based on the Texas Monthly article "Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey into the World of a Man Gone Wild," by Leif Reigstad.

But while it may be a bummer for some that we'll never see Nicolas Cage as Joe Exotic, we still have plenty of other Tiger King content headed our way. In addition to a second season of the Netflix documentary, Peacock is still developing a scripted Tiger King series that will star Kate McKinnon as Carole Baskin and John Cameron Mitchell as Joe Exotic, as well as Kyle MacLachlan as Howard Baskin.
