Though we recently found out Taylor Swift was almost cast in Twilight: New Moon, it turns out there's another celebrity who could have had a starring role in the ironically iconic franchise.
On the latest edition of his Great Guys podcast, Josh Peck hosted Taylor Lautner as his guest, where he revealed to the Twilight actor that he was in the running to play Edward Cullen.
"I remember it's like 2006? Seven?" Peck told Lautner. "They're like, 'Audition for this movie, Twilight, it's based on a book, it's going to be great.' So I send in my tape for Edward."
According to his agent, it was a tight race: "A month later, I'm with my manager and he goes, 'It's down to you and three guys, you're close.'"
He continued: "I'm like, 'Really? I hadn't even had a tummy tuck yet, I'm like, 'There's no way. He's got to be so shirtless, it's not going to happen.' Spoiler alert — didn't get it." Lautner replied, "Did I know this? That's amazing."
Who knows — maybe Peck can snag a supporting role in the upcoming Twilight TV series. This is an excellent time to remind everyone he starred in the 2004 psychological drama Mean Creek, so he's more than suited to get a little darker with it.
