The person whose job it is to pull a big lever and let millions of titles drop onto Netflix's server is clearly trying to tie up some loose ends before the holidays, because they've already let us know what they've got cooking for January 2019. Assuming your New Year's resolution is not to read more books or something, here's the full list of titles coming to Netflix Canada in the first month of the year.
Announced just today, Netflix is unleashing a new docuseries starring activist and rapper Killer Mike. Taking a break from hyping his work with Run the Jewels, Mike will host Trigger Warning with Killer Mike, a show that looks like it will cut to the core of racism in modern American life. Ahead of its January 18 release date, you can watch the trailer for Trigger Warning below.
Other Netflix Original Series include A Series of Unfortunate Events: Season 3 (January 1), Comedians of the World (January 1), Pinky Malinky (January 1), Tidying Up with Marie Kondo (January 1), Godzilla the Planet Eater (January 9), When Heroes Fly (January 10), Friends from College: Season 2 (January 11), ReMastered: Massacre at the Stadium (January 11), Sex Education (January 11), Titans (January 11), Carmen Sandiego (January 18), FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened (January 18), Grace and Frankie: Season 5 (January 18), Trolls: The Beat Goes On!: Season 5 (January 18), Justice (January 21), Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes (January 24), Black Earth Rising (January 25), Club de Cuervos: Season 4 (January 25), Kingdom (January 25), Medici: The Magnificent (January 25), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 4 Part 2 (January 25) and Marvel's The Punisher: Season 2 (release date TBA).
Of course, that's only a few hundred hours of content, so you'll blow through that in a matter of days. Luckily, Netflix also has a handful of original films on the way. Among them is The Last Laugh (January 11), a movie wherein Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfuss play a retired manager and comedian, respectively. Other Netflix films include And Breathe Normally (January 4), Lionheart (January 4), Revenger (January 15), Close (January 18), Girl (January 18), IO (January 18) Soni (January 18) and Animas (January 25).
There's even a Netflix original film called Solo set to arrive on January 11. And that's not to be confused with Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is also hitting Netflix a few days earlier on January 9.
Other non-exclusive properties coming to Netflix include Across the Universe (January 1), Adrift (January 1), Bad Boys January 1), Black Hawk Down (January 1), Blood Diamond (January 1), Daddy Day Care (January 1), Grown Ups 2 (January 1), Loving (January 1), Mona Lisa Smile (January 1), My Best Friend's Wedding (January 1), Tears of the Sun (January 1), The Cable Guy (January 1), The Karate Kid Part II (January 1), The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (January 1), XXX (January 1), XXX: State of the Union (January 1), A Quiet Place (January 2), Bring It On (January 2), Bring It On Again (January 2), Bring It On: All or Nothing (January 2), Bring It On: Fight to the Finish (January 2), Bring It On: In It to Win It (January 2), Red Dragon (January 2), The Bourne Identity (January 2), The Bourne Legacy (January 2), The Bourne Supremacy (January 2), The Bourne Ultimatum (January 2), Book Club (January 21), Z Nation: Season 5 (January 27), Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp (January 29), The Incredibles 2 (January 30) and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (January 31).
You greedy, greedy streamers can't be satiated, but Netflix still has to make room for these new titles. As such, they must bid farewell to a handful of titles. You have until January 1 to watch Shrek, Straight Outta Compton and The Book of Life. Then, you have until January 15 to watch Suicide Squad, January 18 to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, January 25 to watch Captain America: The First Avenger and January 28 to watch Arrival.
See you next year!
