After Eddie Van Halen's passing earlier this month, it was revealed that Van Halen had nearly reunited their classic lineup for a 2019 tour. Now, the late guitarist's son and one-time bandmate, Wolfgang Van Halen, is looking to put talk of further band activity to rest.
Sunday (October 25) saw the younger Van Halen address a rumour making the rounds online that suggested he would move to guitar for another incarnation of the group that would find Sammy Hagar on vocals, Michael Anthony on bass, and Alex Van Halen on drums.
"This is just a shitty lie attempting to capitalize on these awful times. Please stop with this," Wolfgang wrote in sharing the post. "Anyone peddling this shit is not only hurting the fans, but hurting me and my family."

Eddie Van Halen died October 6 following a battle with throat cancer. He was 65.
On the classic lineup reunion that nearly came to fruition, Van Halen manager Irving Azoff shared, "We had lots of stops and starts, but there was every intention of doing a summer stadium tour [in 2019], and as the cancer moved around, [Van Halen] was physically unable to do it...There is no doubt in my mind that it would have been massive."
Last week, Ozzy Osbourne shared a memory in which the late guitar icon asked him to join the band.
