September is a month of farewells and comebacks in the Vancouver live music scene, with some long-running acts coming to town on their final tours — as well as a local favourite from yesteryear celebrating their first album in almost two decades,

From big arena shows to underground hometown heroes, here are seven can't-miss concerts coming to Vancouver in September 2024.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Veda Hille Sisterhood / P:ano

Veteran Vancouver songwriter Veda Hille introduces her new six-piece ensemble on the same night that one of the city's institutions returns, as P:ano (featuring local heroes Nicholas Krgovich and Kellarissa) will celebrate their first new album in 19 years with a hometown show.

From American Idol hopeful to one of the most fun songwriters in pop music, Remi Wolf released her new album Big Ideas this summer, upping the production values of 2021's Juno while retaining the giddy sense of abandon.

Donald Glover has announced plans to retire his music alias Childish Gambino, making this tour in support of the soundtrack Bando Stone & the New World his last. Expect high usual charisma conveyed with exceptionally cool visuals and high production values.

The very first stop on Air's North American tour in celebration of Moon Safari's 25th anniversary brings these two sexy French boys to Vancouver. It's been a quarter century, but their lounge-y electronic pop songs sound as fresh as ever.

All hail Anciients! It's been eight years since the proggy Vancouver metal band released Voice of the Void in 2016 and took home a JUNO Award. Now, following a lineup change and some difficult years in their personal lives, they're finally back with an album that, as vocalist Kenny Cook recently told Exclaim!, reflects a theme of "perseverance."
