Toronto's Jane Inc (a.k.a. Carlyn Bezic) — who you may know as a touring member of U.S. Girls and one-half of electro-pop duo Ice Cream — has released a new single, "2120," from her upcoming record Faster Than I Can Take. It is accompanied by a video directed by Shelby Fenton and Lee Henderson.
The relentless dance track would sound right at home at a packed disco. The retro dance vibes are further made explicit by way of an homage to Donna Summer classic "I Feel Love." The song quickly settles into the type of hypnotic electro-pop groove that sounds like it could last forever, if not for the unexpected but welcome shards of icy guitar bookending the track.
In a press release, Bezic said, "This is a song about the relentless passage of time, the tension between hope and despair, and choosing to be hopeful about the future of our planet despite all the reasons we have not to be."
Faster Than I Can Take is out April 22 through Telephone Explosion. It's Jane Inc's latest following debut album Number One.
