Towards the end of last year, the Wooden Sky announced that they would be road-testing some new material on a fall tour, teasing a new record set to come out this year. The band have now revealed that record will be titled Swimming in Strange Waters, and it will arrive in April through Nevado.
UPDATE (01/12, 11:10 a.m. EST): The band have revealed the record's tracklisting, along with a run of tour dates in Canada and Europe. You can find both below.
The band revealed the title track from their fifth studio LP today (January 11) through NPR, also elaborating on the important story behind the song.
"'Swimming in Strange Waters' stems from the sexual abuse [frontman Gavin] Gardiner's mother endured at the hands of his grandfather, a phone call he had with his grandmother while on tour when she said she was finally leaving her husband and his subsequent death," the band said.
Mixed by John Agnello, the album will apparently include a song taking aim at the Keystone XL pipeline, along with another inspired by refugee families.
