The Veils have released their first new album in seven years. …And Out of the Void Came Love is out now via Ba Da Bing Records.
The 15-track double album is the long-awaited follow-up to 2016's Total Depravity. In the time between releases, the band went into a forced hiatus after frontman Finn Andrews broke his wrist on stage while touring behind the album.
The break from live shows gave Andrews the time he needed to write new music, which became an interesting process for the man with one working hand. "I was in a cast and couldn't use my right hand. I sang the melody lines, then recorded the right hand piano part, then the left hand part," he explained. "It might have been an interesting, avant-garde process if it wasn't also just profoundly annoying."
…And Out of the Void Came Love is meant to be listened to in halves, with a short break in between. The Veils describe the project as a musical journey, featuring genres from indie rock to Americana to folk. Check it out in the player of your choice below.
