Seven-piece psych-rock collective the Royal Family have announced the release of their debut self-titled album, arriving on December 1 via We Here and Now Records. The Toronto outfit have also shared their first track, "Metamorphosis."

The Royal Family consists of the members of Toronto bands Possum and ROY (of Toronto's Idée Fixe Records), Hieronymus Harry, the John Denver Airport Conspiracy and Wine Lips.

The newly-formed French and English baroque psychedelic collective draws inspiration from '60s psych-rock acts like the Fairport Convention, Soft Machine and Giles, Giles, and Fripp, as well as iconic figures of the 1960s like Francois Hardy, Brigitte Bardot and Zouzou.

"The genesis of the LP revolves around the metamorphosis of a butterfly; and the becoming, and the realizing of the self," the band shared in a press release.
