Well, Toronto, your favourite Dundas West venue is finally back: the Garrison has announced its official reopening with ALIVE — a series of concerts by Canadian artists in celebration of the return to live music.
Beginning this September and carrying on through March 2022, the series features local and national headlining treasures, including Cadence Weapon, Witch Prophet, Possum, Dorothea Paas, Vypers, Hubert Lenoir, Hot Garbage, Odonis Odonis, Corridor, Badge Époque Ensemble, Breeze, Vallens, Lee Paradise, Blue Hawaii, Mother Tongues and Vile Creature.
And of course, they'll all be joined by openers and supporting acts local to the GTA. Tickets for each show are only $5, with all proceeds going toward the Artists Mentoring Youth (AMY) Project and the Unison Benevolent Fund.
Shaun Bowring, owner of both the Garrison and the Baby G, said in a statement:
It's no secret that over the last year, the pandemic has hit live music venues hard. With the help of FACTOR, we're excited to present this series that provides a platform for local and national artists to return to the stage. We can't wait to welcome back music fans to see all these shows featuring amazing acts — and tickets are only $5, with all proceeds to Unison and the AMY Project. Great for the audience, bands, venue and our community.
Likewise, the Garrison is prepared to ensure all measures are taken to abide by Public Health Ontario's safety protocols to minimize the impact of COVID-19 and support the health and safety of its guests.
