Toronto DIY-rock band the Effens have collaborated with local punk trio the OBGMs on a new song "Someone's Gonna Get You," out today.
The track grapples with the universal fear of the future and the unknown, bandleader Austin Nops shared in a press statement.
"I wanted to take some of the more personally troubling thoughts I have about the future and human communication, and put them to one of the catchiest and most joyous pieces of music I've been able to write," said Nops.
The track was made in collaboration with the OBGMs and features the talents of vocalist and guitarist Denz McFarlane, who, according to Nops, "not only completes the song with his vocals but also gave his take lyrically on the ideas I was sharing with him behind the song."
"Someone's Gonna Get You" is a juxtaposition — it is both introspective and detached, and bleak and hopeful at the same time, delivered in a cool, calm, rollicking two-and-a-half-minute-long grunge-rock package.
