Few bands are better suited for an evening summer festival set than Tame Impala. The brainchild of acclaimed singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Kevin Parker, the Australian psych-rock outfit brought the full force of their hypnotic, kaleidoscopic sound to the main stage for a buoyant, unforgettable, and confetti-filled journey through their most celebrated hits.

Beginning with "Let It Happen" off of 2015's Currents, the band got the immense crowd swaying from the get-go; the track's pulsating, swirling beats and Parker's trademark falsetto rang out through the grounds as pink and blue-hued smoke blanketed the stage. Ending the song with the first of three confetti-canon blasts, it was clear that Tame Impala had their finger on the pulse of exactly what the crowd wanted and needed.

Moving right to the edge of the stage to sing, as well as perform many of the set's solo guitar interludes, Parker, dressed casually in jeans and a T-shirt, with his shaggy, dyed-blonde hair hanging at his shoulders, was the vision of a musician utterly at ease, moving unhurriedly about the instruments and lazily throwing his arms in the air or water into the crowd while smiling.

Working their way through "Patience" and "The Moment" off Currents,  "Mind Mischief," "Apocalypse Dreams" and fan-favourite "Elephant" off of 2012's Lonerism, and ending with "New Person, Same Old Mistakes," Tame Impala demonstrated that while their music can be an enjoyable, insular experience, that its best experience as a pace-quickening, communal high.
