The Strumbellas Unveil New Album: 'Hope'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 22, 2015

Rootsy Toronto band the Strumbellas gained widespread recognition with their sophomore album, 2013's We Still Move on Dance Floors, which earned them a Juno win and worldwide distribution. Now, they've announced the follow-up. Hope will be out on February 5 through Six Shooter Records.

The band recorded it at Toronto's Lincoln County Social Club with producer Dave Schiffman (Weezer, HAIM, Sky Ferreira). There were three studio sessions, all in the first half of 2015. The album cover, which was designed by sci-fi/fantasy illustrator Joel Hustak, can be seen above.

An announcement doesn't reveal too much about the LP beyond that, but the ensemble apparently "harnessed a vivid sound that was itchin' to get out of them. Bigger. Bolder. Beckoning."

The pop-friendly recent single "Spirits" will be included. That song can be found at the bottom of the page, along with newly unveiled trailer for Hope.

Below, check out the band's tour schedule. It includes a string of Ontario headlining shows in the late fall, to be followed by a Canadian leg opening for Blue Rodeo in early 2016.
