Canadian roots-rock institution Blue Rodeo just released a protest song about Stephen Harper, but no matter which way the election goes, they're going to be hitting the road in early 2016 for a tour of our home and native land.
The outing consists of two distinct legs, one in January and one in February. The January jaunt focuses on the western half of the country, as the band will travel from Ontario all the way out to Vancouver Island with opener Terra Lightfoot.
The February leg, on the other hand, emphasizes the eastern half of the country, as Blue Rodeo will play shows in Quebec and Ontario before heading into Atlantic Canada. This string of shows will be with opener the Strumbellas.
All told, Blue Rodeo have 24 Canadian shows booked for 2016, plus a handful within the next few weeks. See the full schedule below.
Tickets go on sale on Friday next week (October 16). That's the same day that Blue Rodeo will release their new concert LP Live at Massey Hall. Every concert ticket purchased grants the fan a complimentary download of one Blue Rodeo album of his or her choosing (including Live at Massey Hall).
In other news, Blue Rodeo have some vinyl reissues on the way. Casino (1990) will land on October 30, Lost Together (1992) will follow on November 13 and Five Days in July (1993) will finish the series on November 27.
