Shearwater Return with 'Jet Plane and Oxbow'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 20, 2015

Texas indie rock outfit Shearwater have announced plans to issue their first album of original material since 2012. Their latest offering is titled Jet Plane and Oxbow, and it touches down January 22 via Sub Pop.

The record is the group's first LP since 2013's covers set, Fellow Travelers, but marks the first set of originals since 2012's Animal Joy. The 11-song offering was recorded with Danny Reisch at studios in Austin and Los Angeles.

Described as Shearwater's "biggest and loudest record," it was crafted by frontman Jonathan Meiburg and Reisch over the last couple of years, with assistance from the likes of Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner, composer Brian Reitzell (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation), drummer Cully Symington, Howard Draper, Lucas Oswald, Jesca Hoop and Abram Shook.

Shearwater are teasing the collection with a stream of "Quiet Americans." You can discover it down below, along with Jet Plane and Oxbow's tracklisting.
