Sex With Strangers

'You Know Something We Don't?' (album stream)

Vancouver dance-rock combo Sex With Strangers have pushed back the release of their album You Know Something We Don't? by two days to May 29, but it's available to stream in the meantime on Exclaim.ca.

The 10-song set was produced at Fader Mountain Sound in Vancouver by Paul Boechler (Jordan Klassen, Black Wizard). It features in-your-face material, with pounding rhythms overlaid with full-bodied guitars and spacious synths.

Opener "Hostages" mixes English and French lyrics as breezy pop shifts into brash rock. The energy almost never lets up, as "Pink Sock" is a hard-charging post-punk number, "Falling Over" sports jittery hooks, and "Wasted Glory" features some of the collection's heaviest riffs. The exception is "Burned," which is the disc's only slow, atmospheric track.

Sex With Strangers will play at the Fox Cabaret in Vancouver on May 29. This free show will also include Actors, War Baby and Combine the Victorious.
