Pallbearer have detailed a new album and accompanying North American tour. The heavy Arkansas outfit will share Mind Burns Alive on May 17 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Running close to an hour in length, the six-song Mind Burns Alive follows 2020's Forgotten Days.
As vocalist-guitarist Brett Campbell explains in a release, the songs are "vignettes that tell the stories of people who deal with myriad sicknesses of the spirit… illnesses communicated by the world we live in, and the subjects are the symptoms of the disease."
"These songs are a deeper exploration of dynamics and sonic colour than anything we have done up to this point," Campbell adds. "I'm of the belief that true heaviness comes from emotional weight, and sometimes sheer bludgeoning isn't the right approach to getting a feeling across."
Opener "Where the Light Fades" finds Pallbearer eschewing that "sheer bludgeoning" for a sound that carries just as much emotional weight. You can hear it below alongside a Dan Almaty-directed video.
Pallbearer have also planned a North American tour behind the album, featuring support on select dates from the Keening, Rwake, REZN and Inter Arma. Five Canadian dates are included on the run, bringing Pallbearer to Montreal and Toronto in June, ahead of Western Canadian shows in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver in July.
Find the complete tour itinerary below. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday (March 22) at 10 a.m. local time, with further details available via the band's official website.
