Opeth and Mastodon have mapped out a North American tour that includes several stops in Canada through April and May.
The trek will kick off in Montreal at Place Bell on April 21, later making its way to Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Elsewhere, the bands will hit US cities including Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, Portland and more.
Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt said of the forthcoming spring tour:
We're excited to come back to North America for the second leg of shows together with our "brothers from other mothers" in Mastodon. And… hello, Canada! It's been too long, we know! We'll soon dust off the ole guitars etc. and get in shape for this run. The last tour was quite splendid; the only downside being the restrictions. We don't know for sure how it's going to pan out this time around, but we're hoping for a bit more freedom to move around. Crossing fingers here.
Pandemic era notwithstanding, both bands are relatively hot off of some mammoth releases, with Mastodon's Hushed and Grim arriving last year, and Opeth's In Cauda Venenum arriving back in 2019.
Tickets for the tour go on sale this Friday, February 11 at 10 a.m. local time here, with presales beginning tomorrow (February 8) and running through to Thursday, February 10.
