Barack Obama Is an Andy Shauf Fan

He included the singer-songwriter on his latest playlist, alongside PARTYNEXTDOOR, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Bob Dylan and more

Barack Obama is known for sharing his surprisingly cool playlists, which span genres and include plenty of contemporary artists. He just delivered his summer playlist for 2020, and it includes an extremely Canadian choice: singer-songwriter Andy Shauf.

That's right: the former president of the United States has been spending his free time listening to folk-rock songs about a diner in Toronto's Parkdale neighbourhood, as the playlist includes "Neon Skyline" from Shauf's 2020 album The Neon Skyline.

Also on the Canadian front, there's a whole lot of Toronto R&B crooner PARTYNEXTDOOR. His solo track "PGT" made the cut, as did his guest spots on Summer Walker's "My Affection" and Popcaan's "Twist & Turn" (which also features Drake).

Beyond that, Obama has been listening to Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, the Chicks, Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Bob Dylan, Little Simz, Jason Isbell, HAIM and many more. Megan Thee Stallion made the list, but unfortunately it's "Savage Remix" and not "WAP."

Obama wrote that these are the songs he has been listening to with his family throughout the pandemic. See the full playlist below.
