It's their first release since 2019

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds are back — the long-running alt-rock group has announced that they'll share their 18th LP Wild God on August 30 via Play It Again Sam

The 10-track project will mark their first release since 2019's Ghosteen. Naturally, Cave has been spending the interim by keeping our news cycle fresh with pointed take after pointed take on AI, his controversial album Murder Ballads, the monarchy and more.

Wild God has been in the works since New Year's Day of 2023 and has since taken shape via sessions in France and the UK.

Longtime Bad Seed Warren Ellis — who also linked up with Cave to score the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic — co-produced the project.

"I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious," Cave said of Wild God in a press release. "There is never a master plan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy."

The group have punctuated the announcement today by sharing the title track, which you can check out below, along with the complete Wild God tracklist.
