Neneh Cherry is doubling-down on the preview front, offering up both a stream of her upcoming Blank Project's "Everything" and a non-album remix prepped by Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer.
The seven-minute album version is epic in scope, though it starts off with a slender hi-hat tick, some bicycle honk-styled vocal manipulations and Cherry slyly sounding off on her mood ("agitated, hungry, frustrated, angry"). The song bubbles up into a frothy blend of synth-bass, electronic textures and rapped lines about the "filthy ways" of a fascinating figure in Cherry's life.
As for the remix, it runs a little longer and adds more minimalist but bouncy house rhythms, obtuse percussive blips, airy whooshes and pitch-shifted dolphin mimicry.
You can stream both interpretations of "Everything" down below.
Blank Project, which also features production work from Four Tet and an appearance from Robyn, drops February 25 through Smalltown Supersound.
