The emo revival quietly, then loudly, then quietly forges on with yet another band joining the ranks of Sunny Day Real Estate, the Kinsella brothers in their various incarnations and many others: Austin emo greats Mineral have announced plans for a reunion tour.
Mineral existed from 1994 to 1998, and featured Chris Simpson, Scott McCarver, Jeremy Gomez and Gabriel Wiley. When they disbanded, members went on to form the Gloria Record and Pop Unknown, among others.
Now, they've reunited to celebrate 20 years since first forming. Simpson shared the following statement regarding their reunion:
Reconnecting with each other and this material for the first time in 17 years has been a real joy and pleasure. The shows will be the icing on the cake. We are grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to getting to play for all the people who have loved us all along as well as the many who have discovered us posthumously along the way.
Sadly, the group don't have any Canadian tour dates booked, but they are playing the Fest in Gainesville this November. Plus, if all goes well there's a chance they'll pull an Outkast and sign up for every festival possible, but only time will tell.
Tour dates:
09/05 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
09/06 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
09/09 Washington, DC - Black Cat
09/10 Boston, MA - Brighton Music Hall
09/11 Philadelphia, PA - Union Transfer
09/12 Cleveland, OH - Grog Shop
11/02 Gainesville, FL - The Fest 13
