Even when opening for Faye Webster upward of two years ago (at the time that she was on the cover of Exclaim!), Maya Hawke drew a feverishly rapt crowd. Now, the actor and singer-songwriter has announced her first full North American headlining tour — including Canadian shows in Toronto and Montreal — as well as a follow-up EP to June's Chaos Angel.
Arriving this Friday via Mom+Pop, Clipped Wings is a four-track collection of songs that didn't make the album, made alongside longtime collaborators Christian Lee Huston, Benjamin Lazar Davis and Will Graefe.
"I wanted Chaos Angel to be a tight and consistent record. The songs on Clipped Wings were heartbreaking to cut," Hawke explained in a statement. "Some of them I have waited years for you to hear. They are very special to me. Songs about friendship, self actualization, self hatred, and finding balance between what you want and what you want to want."
Below, hear lead track "Kamikaze Comic," which sees the artist leaning into timeless country instrumentation and sounding a little different! Hawke's North American tour dates kick off on March 10 in Seattle, WA, with her scheduled to visit Canada later that month for shows at Toronto's History (March 27) and Montreal's MTELUS (March 28). Tickets go on sale this Friday (October 4), following presales getting underway Wednesday (October 2).
