Mariel Buckley Shares Live Performance Video of New Song "Driving Around"

The latest single from her forthcoming album 'Everywhere I Used to Be'

Earlier this month, Calgary's Mariel Buckley announced her forthcoming third full-length Everywhere I Used to Be and shared its driving, War on Drugs-esque lead single "Shooting at the Moon."

And today, Buckley is back with another taste of Everywhere I Used to Be, sharing a live performance video for new song "Driving Around."

"Driving Around" was "the result of a new love interest, and because everything was closed, I had to get creative to impress," said Buckley in a statement about the track. "It reminded me of being a queer kid in high school, having to go on dates just cruising around because we were usually hiding from someone. It was nice to reclaim that feeling of freedom and joy, now in my thirties; and not feeling the need to hide from anyone."

The song is a gently swaying, full-band ballad that showcases another facet of Buckley's tender writing after the momentum and flash of "Shooting at the Moon."

Everywhere I Used to Be was produced by Marcus Paquin, and it arrives August 12 on Birthday Cake Records. It's the follow-up to 2018's Driving in the Dark.
