After announcing new album MATA this past May, M.I.A. has now teased an expected release period for the effort, in addition to a pair of the LP's high-profile guest features.

MATA, the follow-up to 2016's AIM, will mark the artist's first release for Island Records and is expected to arrive in September. Ahead of time, M.I.A. has shared new singles "The One" and "Popular," the latter of which was co-produced by Diplo.

The September release detail comes from a message M.I.A. shared in an Instagram story (archived below), which also pointed to new material with Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj. While a concrete release date wasn't shared, the artist assured followers that MATA is "COMING SOON ... I PROMISE."

"I HAD TO WAIT 2 YEARS FOR A DOJA CAT VERSE ….," she wrote. "THEN A NICKI ONE… THEN A …. NEVER MIND." M.I.A. went as far as claiming that "IF MATA ISNT OUT SEPT I WILL LEAK IT MYSELF."

Doja Cat was forced to cancel a 2022 summer tour following tonsil surgery, which would have seen her hit the road behind last year's Planet Her.

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, recently reunited with Young Money partners Drake and Lil Wayne. Her most recent album remains 2018's Queen.
