Lubalin has gone from the viral funnyman behind those "internet drama" videos to getting a JUNO nomination for his production work with Charlotte Cardin. Now, he has shared his latest single, "just love."
Departing from his usual computer-based approach, Lubalin wrote the chorus of "just love" on a nylon-string acoustic guitar. He said in a statement, "I usually have to fight with my songs, work them, re-work them, tweak and tweak... this one just... happened. I honestly didn't do much to it after those first two sessions — I was too afraid to fuck it up and lose the magic."
Despite the spontaneity of the song, it's an intricate production full of purring synths and jittery breakbeats.
This is the first single in a planned six-song series from Lubalin. Hear it below.
