Lil Nas X Dethrones DaBaby as Most-Streamed Male Rapper

We really do love to see it.

Ahead of releasing his debut album MONTERO, Lil Nas X has already managed to become the most listened-to male rapper on Spotify. Better yet, the openly gay artist has surpassed the blatantly homophobic DaBaby to take the top spot.

Lil Nas X now has over 52 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform, ahead of DaBaby's 51.7 million.

The "Old Town Road" hitmaker reacted to the accomplishment on Twitter, writing: "wow this is insane. this is the most i've ever had in my career. thank u to everybody listening. ♡"

Lil Nas X announced MONTERO with an album trailer back in June. While there's still no confirmed release date for the LP as of yet, the rapper has shared two singles from the effort so far: the title track and "Industry Baby" with Jack Harlow. He was also the musical guest on SNL in May.

Meanwhile, DaBaby has been making a mess. The saga began at his Rolling Loud festival performance in Miami last month, when he made some seriously horrific homophobic comments on stage. Since then, DaBaby has been dropped from numerous festival bills — and he's shared multiple pseudo-apologies and retractions, prompting HIV/AIDS organizations to pen open letters and fellow artists like Azealia Banks to plead that he stays "cancelled."

While Lil Nas X hasn't directly addressed DaBaby's harmful rhetoric, he's long been unapologetically outspoken bout his sexual identity and its influence on his art.

To become Spotify's most-streamed ahead of someone who has recently been outed as a homophobe... that's some divine timing. Karma, anyone?
