Les Mouches

"Cities Become Less Important"

Acclaimed Canadian songsmith Owen Pallett recently unveiled plans to reissue You're Worth More to Me Than 1000 Christians from his early project Les Mouches, and Exclaim! has got your first listen to that record's remastered rendition of "Cities Become Less Important."

Les Mouches were a collaborative three-piece unit featuring Pallett, Rob Gordon and Matt Smith — who still collaborate to this day. We previously heard "Carload of Whatever," and now "Cities Become Less Important" continues to fill in the gaps of Pallett's extensive and eccentric musical history.

The track opens on a wobbly, experimental note before softly plucked electric guitars, bursts of percussion and Pallett's gentle croon take the listener on a rootsy, psychedelia-tinged sonic journey.

The vinyl reissue of You're Worth More to Me Than 1000 Christians is out on July 28 through Orchid Tapes. It will be released on limited-edition gold and pink wax, with a scented jacket, logo-stamped tea bag, guava candy, a Les Mouches pin, Orchid Tapes sticker and a hand-written thank-you note. You can pre-order a copy over here, and then hit play below to hear the Canadian premiere of "Cities Become Less Important."
