Owen Pallett Treats Les Mouches' 'You're Worth More to Me Than 1000 Christians' to Vinyl Reissue

Owen Pallett has been wowing listeners with solo records, albums as Final Fantasy and countless collaborative projects like scoring Spike Jonze's Her alongside Arcade Fire — and even working with Linkin Park. Now, the prolific Canadian songsmith has announced plans to revisit his early musical years by reissuing Les Mouches' 2004 album You're Worth More to Me Than 1000 Christians.

The project was an experimental three-piece, featuring collaborators Rob Gordon and Matt Smith — who still work with Pallett these days. The band broke up after just about 30 gigs in their home and native land, with Pallett blaming the fact that his "life was in shambles."

They never gained a huge following, with Pallett explaining in a press release: "One kid I call a friend got so angry about hearing our music on Guelph radio that he wrote many posts describing us as, among other things, 'the worst music he'd ever heard.'"

Now, after years of musical acclaim, Pallett will be issuing the band's 2004 LP You're Worth More to Me Than 1000 Christians on vinyl. It was originally released on CD through the now-defunct Blocks Recording Club, but will be making its way on to wax on July 28 via Orchid Tapes.

The album has been remastered and features new art, which you can see above. It's being pressed in a limited edition of 500 copies on gold and pink vinyl, and each record will include — get ready for it — "a small amount of a custom-made scent sprayed onto the jacket," a logo-stamped tea bag, guava candy, a Les Mouches artwork pin, an Orchid Tapes sticker and a handwritten thank-you note. You can pre-order it here

Pallett has also shared a taste of what to expect with the track "Carload of Whatever." Sparse in parts and totally raucous and terrifying in others, it's an interesting piece of the puzzle that is Pallett's musical past.
