Montreal's Le Ren — a.k.a the country music project of Lauren Spear — has announced plans for her debut album Leftovers, which will arrive on October 15 via Royal Mountain Records/Secretly Canadian.

Produced by Chris Cohen and featuring contributions from Tenci and collaborator Buck Meek (of Big Thief), Spear describes the 10-track record as "a collection of feelings and moments of the past that still remain relevant to my present."

Today, the artist has shared the record's lead single "Dyan," which is dedicated to her mother. The song arrives with its own video directed by Ali Vanderkruyk.

"My intention was to try to describe the way I feel eternally connected to my mother while living far away from her, especially during the pandemic when distance feels bigger than it did before," Spear said of the track.

She added: "I'm constantly reminded of her love — in seeing the sky turn a certain shade of blue, in silver-grey hair, in the music I make and listen to because of her. I also recognize her in the way I speak and how I process certain emotions."
