Three years on from sharing their self-titled EP — and with many more miles logged on the road — Canadian four-piece Kasador have detailed their debut full-length album. The Kingston-based rockers will release Brood & Bloom on October 4.
Twelve tracks in length, Brood & Bloom was recorded at Kingston's Bathouse Studios, and was produced by Holy Fuck's Graham Walsh and the Tragically Hip's Rob Baker and Gord Sinclair. The previously shared title track, "Come Get Yer Money" and "High Rise" all appear in the tracklisting.
Alongside the announcement, Kasador have shared album cut "Again for Me," which arrives alongside a video. Directed, shot and edited by Katherine Kwan, the clip finds the band's Will Hunter reflecting on the song's personal nature before sitting down to perform it at Toronto's Cameron House.
"My dad passed away almost two years ago. He was a songwriter and is one of the main reasons I believed it was something I could also do," Hunter wrote in a statement. "While Kasador was on a writing break, I received some of his unfinished songs including one called 'You're Still Your Father's Son,' written about losing his dad."
Hunter continued: "Soon after receiving the notes, the band was in the studio. I was writing at a piano when the 'you're still your father's son' came onto the page. That lyric was something I had been thinking a lot ever since coming across it, but hadn't found the right song for it until that very moment. Once it really set things in motion, there was no looking back. It came from a place of reflection — thinking about how important it is to value those around you in the moment and to try and live your life for those who are no longer here with you."
Kasador have also mapped out a run of October tour dates, taking them to Montreal, Ottawa and throughout southern Ontario. You can find their itinerary following the album's tracklist below.
Brood & Bloom was engineered by Nyles Spencer (Sam Roberts Band, Arkells, the Strumbellas), mixed by Mark Vreeken (King Crimson, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young), and mastered at Gateway Mastering Studios by Adam Ayan (Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Rush).
