Kanye West has pulled out of his headlining slot at Coachella, according to reports from TMZ and Variety. No official reason has been given for his withdrawal from the festival, and Coachella hasn't commented as of yet.
West was set to headline both Sundays (April 17 and 24), and he'd previously threatened to pull out of the performances unless fellow headliner Billie Eilish provided an apology to Travis Scott. West believed that Eilish had insulted Scott following the Astroworld tragedy when she said that she "[waits] for people to be okay before I keep going" while helping a fan find their inhaler at a show.
Eilish responded that she "literally never said a thing about travis" and "was just helping a fan." It's unclear if West's withdrawal has anything to do with the exchange.
Last month, West was banned from Instagram for 24 hours after violating its policies concerning hate speech, harassment and bullying. He was then publicly barred from performing at the Grammys due to "concerning online behaviour." Last night, he won two Grammy Awards anyway for Best Rap Song and Best Melodic Rap Performance.
