Instagram Bans Kanye West for 24 Hours

He violated Instagram's hate speech policies

Instagram is going to be a quieter place today, as Instagram has banned Kanye West for 24 hours.

He won't be able to post, comment, send DMs and more. Instagram's parent company Meta told Reuters that Ye has violated Instagram's policies on "hate speech and bullying and harassment."

Obviously, this is connected to Ye's repeated harassment of his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and threats towards her boyfriend Pete Davidson — although the primary reason seems to be racist slurs Ye directed at comedian Trevor Noah.

Noah spoke about the Ye/Kim/Pete drama in a The Daily Show segment, calling Ye "belligerent" and saying that the situation is "terrifying to watch." In response, Ye posted a photo of Noah and captioned it with a parody of the song "Kumbaya" that was modified to include a racist slur.

Although Ye has been banned from Instagram for 24 hours, his page is still up — and, as of this writing, it includes several posts harassing Pete Davidson, as well as ones targeting SNL writer Dave Sirius (who shared alleged texts between Kanye and Davidson) and comedian D. L. Hughley (who recently made jokes criticizing Ye).
