Now that he's got a proper education, rapper/producer/fashion magnate Kanye West is moving on to another pursuit with a starring role in a forthcoming Spike Lee joint called Chiraq.
West has long been rumoured for a role in the film, which is an adaptation of the Greek comedy Lysistrata. As Screen Daily reports, the rapper has been confirmed as a member of the film's cast.
He'll join Samuel L. Jackson, John Cusack and Jennifer Hudson. The film follows a woman as she attempts to end gang warfare in Chicago.
Kanye's fellow Chi-town rapper Common has also been rumoured for a role in the film, though his involvement has yet to be confirmed. Frankly, we think they'd be wise to add Chief Keef or Lil Durk to the lineup.
Chiraq is currently being shopped around at Cannes.
Update: A representative of Kanye West told Pitchfork that the rapper actually won't be appearing in Chiraq. Instead, schedule permitting, he's considering doing work for its soundtrack.
