Kaïa Kater and Abigail Lapell are celebrating their forthcoming new albums with a special double release show at Toronto's TD Music Hall — the city's new, 500-capacity venue as part of Massey Hall's Allied Music Centre — on May 22.
Montreal-born Grenadian-Canadian Kater draws on her deep familial ties in Canadian folk music and her college years spent delving into Appalachian music in West Virginia. She recently released "The Internet," her first new single since 2021, and has hinted at an album to follow this spring.
Meanwhile, Torontonian Lapell just announced her sixth album, Anniversary, a collection of love songs produced with Great Lake Swimmers' Tony Dekker and recorded at St. Mark's Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake — an earnest celebration of commitment full of elegiac ballads, bright earworms and character.
Tickets go on sale Friday (February 16) at 10 a.m. via the TD Music Hall website or over the phone at 416-0872-4255.
