Two years ago, Joni Mitchell left Spotify in solidarity with Neil Young's protest against Joe Rogan. Now that Young has returned to Spotify, Mitchell has also followed suit.
Young returned his music to Spotify after it was announced that Rogan's podcast, which Young protested due to the host spreading vaccine misinformation, would also be distributed through Apple and Amazon. Rather than pull his music from all services, he chose to return it to Spotify.
At the time Mitchell left Spotify, she said, "I've decided to remove all my music from Spotify. Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue." She hasn't released a public statement about her return.
