Jim Jarmusch's zombie flick The Dead Don't Die now walks among us, and so too will its accompanying soundtrack. On September 13, The Dead Don't Die: Original Score will arrive via Sacred Bones.
The score was composed and performed by SQÜRL — the band comprising Jarmusch and producer Carter Logan. The soundtrack will arrive on vinyl, both as a plain black variant and a "Black Dust" variant. You can pre-order both now.
A press release explains this of SQÜRL's score:
The score to the The Dead Don't Die is a true expression of where SQÜRL stand at the center of a decade of sonic exploration. It is the culmination of their passion for analog synths, with guitar violence reverberating from the darker corners of Americana. It is at once a tribute to the classic sounds of horror and sci-fi, as well as a decapitation of traditional film scores. It is naturally supernatural.
To achieve this, Jarmusch and Logan employed an array of guitars, synths, a Fender Rhodes electric piano and various other sonic tools.
"The result is a new horror soundtrack that stands shoulder to shoulder with the great works of its genre," boasts the PR.
Down below, you can see the tracklist for the release, which also features dialogue from the film. Below that, there's also a teaser for the score.
Notably, Sturgill Simpson's recently shared title track "The Dead Don't Die" does not appear on the album.
