Jello Biafra

The Big Ka-Boom Part One

BY Michael BarclayPublished May 1, 2002

It’s only been a year since Jello released the epic three-CD spoken word set Become the Media, but these days there’s never a shortage of affairs to discuss. Hence this 33-minute EP, in which Jello runs down the root causes of terrorism and explains why patriotism has a lot more to do with a questioning mind than using American flags as curtains on your window of the world. The problem is, to anyone slightly more informed than your average punk off the street, he’s not offering anything particularly new or insightful. Nor is he even that entertaining, resorting to stock impressions of Dubya. Still, the more voices that emerge from his neck of the woods, the better.
