Montreal party-starters Busty and the Bass have joined (air) forces with Cadence Weapon for new single "Airplanes" — now ready for take-off.

Birthed from an electronic beat "reminiscent of one of those dingy Montreal afterparties where the line between late night and early morning ceases to exist," according to guitarist Louis Stein, "Airplanes" is a buoyant, house-influenced track.

"Bringing it to the band brought new life to the groove," Stein explained, "and when we got Cadence on the track, he gave it meaning and helped make this beat into a song."

The single comes packaged with instrumental B-side "Caribou," drawing inspiration from Radiohead and Floating Points with production on the live instruments designed to mimic the sound of electronic elements and drum sequencers.

These two new tracks mark the first material from the collective since their 2021 instrumental ET Suite, which offered diverse iterations of a track from their 2020 album Eddie.
