Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Wintersleep, Nia Nadurata, EKKSTACY, WHIPPED CREAM

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Nov 8, 2024

The start to November has... certainly been something! To put it lightly, this was a doozy of a week for many of us — but hopefully you can find some solace in the best new Canadian music it's also brought us.

We have the return of Wintersleep, and Toronto's Nia Nadurata delivering a strong lead-off single to her upcoming debut EP. EKKSTACY follows his January self-titled record and other 2024 loosie "mr. mole" with the nostalgic "seventeen," while WHIPPED CREAM continues her Careline project with "GOD IS A GENTLEMAN."

This week in album releases, you can check out brand new LPs from Yoo Doo Right (From the Heights of Our Pastureland), Les Breastfeeders (La ville engloutie), Capitol and 36?; plus EPs from Louie Sanchez, Counterparts, the Sheepdogs and Les Deuxluxes. HOMESHAKE and the Tragically Hip also have new deluxe packages (a reissue of their debut, in the case of the latter).

Elsewhere, Toronto queer icon CJ Wiley previews their long-awaited debut album with "Adelaide," and Memory Pearl teams up with Joseph Shabason for the first single from forthcoming sophomore album Cosmic-Astral. We also found out about Fucked Up's surprise album kind of late last week, so enjoy their collaboration with Juliana Riolino if you haven't already.

Find gems from all genres with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken — all Canadian and proud of it!
