Melodic death metal mainstays the Haunted went through some lineup trouble a couple of years back, but the long-running Swedish outfit make their return this week with their three-song Eye of the Storm single. Ahead of tomorrow's (January 21) North American due date through Century Media, though, you can let your hair whip in the wind to the title track.
The song plays close to the slower side of the veteran crew's back catalogue, pounding away on a double kick-driven 3/4 time signature and soul-blackening twin guitar melodies. All the while, vocalist Marco Aro bursts a couple blood vessels screaming about a veritable personal shit-storm ("You asked for my forgiveness, all I have for you is contempt," he growls).
Eye of the Storm arrives digitally and on a limited edition 7-inch and comes equipped with the title track and two other tunes ("Infiltrator" and "My Enemy).
