Hamilton's Capitol Detail Sophomore Album 'Sounds Like a Place,' Share "Crooked Knees"

It follows their 2019 debut 'Dream Noise'

Shoegaze-y Hamilton dream pop quintet Capitol have detailed the upcoming release of their sophomore album, previewed today by new single "Crooked Knees."

Sounds Like a Place arrives November 8 through Meritorio Records as the long-awaited follow-up to 2019's Dream Noise. Likewise, the record has been a long time coming, initially recorded back in 2022 at Toronto's Union Sound Company. Its first single, "Your Heart Is Everywhere," was released back in June.

"With 'Crooked Knees' we wanted to blend levels of darkness and  lightness, so we aimed to have these warm highs and dreary lows; both lyrically and instrumentally," the band explained of the latest track — which conjures the industrial hum of their hometown with driving percussion and billowing smokestacks of synths  — in a statement. "And from these contrasts we also tried to challenge ourselves with the overall structure; rearranging verses and choruses atypically."
