Guided by Voices Announce New Album 'Surrender Your Poppy Field'
Indie-rock lifers Guided by Voices have announced plans for a brand new record titled Surrender Your Poppy Field. The album is due February 20 via the band's own GBV Inc.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, frontman Robert Pollard described the supernatural influences and the winding road that led to the band's new record:

I think Wizard of Oz came to mind when it was first conceived. I did a five-song EP about four or five years ago under the name Sunflower Logic and we included a mock catalog for the label name we used, Pink Banana Records. In it there are 50 or 60 fake band names with titles for 45s, EPs albums and compilations and one of the songs was Surrender Your Poppy Field. It stuck and I decided to give it a real home on a Guided By Voices album.

Today, the band have shared the Surrender Your Poppy Field's lead single "Volcano." Listen to that below.

Alongside the album's lead single, Guided by Voices have also shared Surrender Your Poppy Field's full tracklisting. Find that below, where you'll also see the band's upcoming U.S. tour schedule.

Surrender Your Poppy Field follows the group's three 2019 full-length records: Zeppelin over ChinaWarp and Woof and Sweating the Plague. According to Rolling Stone, the band plan to continue their pattern of multi-release years well into 2020 as well — though no further details have been announced on this year's upcoming GBV records.
